Quadricuspid aortic valve

Resumen

Introduction: Quadricuspid aortic valve is a rare anatomical abnormality, its incidence ranging from 0.008% to 0.033%. Case Report: We
describe the case of a female patient with a quadricuspid aortic valve. The direct visualization showed a type E quadricuspid aortic valve. After
complete excision of the valve, it was replaced by a 23mm biological prosthesis. Postoperative recovery was uneventful. Discussion: Since the
first case, described in 1862, fewer than 200 cases have been diagnosed so far in world literature. Given its frequent association with other
cardiac malformations, it is important that physicians seek their preoperative diagnosis.
